Modern Athlete magazine feature - March 2018

Posted by Rogeema Kenny on Saturday, May 19, 2018, In : Triathlon
While I haven't written a post-race report of my Ironman 70.3 race day experience yet (and I haven't forgotten about it), I was featured in the Modern Athlete March 2018 issue. Modern Athlete is the biggest running and multi-sport publication in the country, so I am truly humbled to have had the opportunity to share my story in the magazine.

It's time to tame the Buffalo

Posted by Rogeema Kenny on Saturday, January 27, 2018, In : Triathlon

So race weekend is finally here! After all those years of dreaming and months of training, I am now looking out onto the beach that we will swim at, and the road we will ride and run in.

It has been an incredible journey.

Done with registration and expo, and as I retreat to the silence of my own company...relaxing on the bed and looking through my window at the esplanade, I glance over at the backpack on the dressing table counter that says “IRONMAN”. Contemplating the magnitude of what it...

RISE & SHINE - Welcome to the Grind

Posted by Rogeema Kenny on Saturday, September 20, 2014, In : Inspiration

You’re a sportsperson.

You test and defy the limits of the human body, no matter what your level…
Always pushing harder, going further, lifting higher...
You love to feel the strength in your muscles as they work to carry you through from the start to that finish line...

But to push hard, go long, and be strong takes hours, days, months, and years of defying alarm clocks and snooze buttons, going out in the cold, going out in the dark… to train, to race.

No man or woman can do that withou...

I TRI'd ... to SWIM, BIKE, RUN!

Posted by Rogeema Kenny on Monday, June 23, 2014, In : Triathlon

It's November 2013, and a conversation goes something like this...

Rog: Jacques, don't you wanna do Impi with me in April?
Hoff: How far is it?
Rog: It's a 10-12km trail run with 18 obstacles in it
Hoff: Ja, that would be fun, but if I do Impi with you then you must do a triathlon with me.

Rog: Uhm *gets shocked look on face* But I can't swim!
Hoff: I'll teach you
Rog: Uhm...Ok

That little conversation would be the beginning of a journey that would change parts of my life as I knew it.

Hoff is Ja...

Adios 2011...

Posted by Rogeema Kenny on Saturday, December 31, 2011, In : Family & Friends

2011... Wow, what a year!

From the vibes I've been getting over the past few days, I know that a lot of people reading this may not have had a good year. A lot of my close friends have had a horrible 2011, and for you I sincerely hope 2012 marks the beginning of a new dawn.

As far as my life is concerned, I wouldn't necessarily say that it has been good or bad. I am grateful for every single experience of this year, because it has taught me valuable lessons about myself and others, about people...

Happy Birthday Abdurahmaan

Posted by Rogeema Kenny on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, In : Family & Friends

Call it an essay... Call it a birthday card on steroids... Call it what you want...
I'm calling it a birthday wish for my "little" brother

I won't embarrass you on the internet with baby photos.
Oh wait...maybe not baby-baby photos, but what would a birthday post be without a few snaps of when you were little, back in the days when you wanted to be a power ranger? :)

So here they are:

Awww... HOW CUTE!!

I'm writing this post because I believe someone reading this will be inspired by the story.

My br...
