Welcome to Roggie's "training for fun" Era... Wh Welcome to Roggie's "training for fun" Era...

Where it's short rides, slow runs, and triathlon relays! Need to up my swimming situation though... I'm swimming in the relay team in 3 weeks and haven't been in the water in 6 months 😆

Laws to live by: Always make time to play! Liste Laws to live by: Always make time to play!

Listen... I'm as excited as the next person for Spring to arrive, but playing in the snow sure was helluva fun yesterday! Even took my gloves off because it is easier to build a snowman with bare hands 😄

When I heard on Monday that there was snow on Matroosberg, I immediately got to work to clear my day and make a trip there the next day. I was a bit nervous that it would be all melted by the time we got there, but so glad I decided to go because although there was no longer ground snow, there was plenty a little further up the mountain within driving distance plus a short little walk.

If you're still hopeful to experience snow before winter leaves us next week, keep an eye on the weather forecast for the area. There is another cold front expected within a few days with more snow expected. Try and go the day that it snows or very early the next day. With the weather warming up, it melts pretty quickly. Rain also makes it disappear faster than sun.

I STAND ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS 🥰 I am so i I STAND ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS 🥰

I am so incredibly honoured to be featured on the @toughgirlchallenges podcast. It's my first international podcast, and to be amongst the hundreds of rockstar women interviewed over the years, some of whom I've looked up to as inspiration for ages, is an absolute honour. I hope my story inspires anyone who listens to it to go for their dreams and to embrace the vulnerability that may come with it. It's what makes it all the more special.

You are worthy, regardless of the choices you make. Hijabis, don't let anyone dim your light. We are not meant to live in the shadows 💫

It must be part of some divine order that my episode releases today...not only is it the days leading up to Women's Day in South Africa, but it's also the week of the anniversary of my very first running race that I did on 9 August many years ago with @fadeelahk. We worked up to running that 5km starting from struggling to run a single kilometer, and look at us now 😊

In this episode I speak about how it all began, what you need to do to build toughness and resilience, and overcoming mental health challenges.

You can listen on iTunes, Soundcloud, Spotify, and Stitcher. Or you can access the episode directly at the link in my bio.

My old habit of coming in just before cutoff conti My old habit of coming in just before cutoff continues 😄

I thought the #Gone4GoodLite ship had sailed when I didn't get to do the route on any of the weekends in July. But then this morning @hikingnerd76 asked if I'm keen to do our run this afternoon on that route since it's the last day of the challenge. I consulted with my boss for a nanosecond, and she agreed that I could finish up a little early and go. I had worked through the weekend, so honestly I just really needed this to reset mentally and physically... because I could feel my stress levels piling up. It was glorious and the weather was just perfect for a slow run/hike. We even had to take our finisher pics at the start because the shop would be closed when we finished 😂

This end of July marks my one year anniversary of leaving corporate (without a plan), and I haven't looked back. I guess I'm literally gone for good 😆 I'm just incredibly grateful to be in this space right now. It comes with immense challenges, but also immense rewards. I'm also grateful for the pain that drove me to that decision, because without it, I would still be stuck in a (dis)comfort zone and not have the courage to back myself.

And yeah it was me whom I consulted with for that nanosecond...my boss is me 😂

These emergency lamps have been a game changer for These emergency lamps have been a game changer for lighting during loadshedding. Been using them for a few months now and it's fantastic. It's imported from the UK, so it's double the price of the cheaper local ones (you can find it on Takealot, and it's on special now) but it does the job much better and doesn't flicker when it gets old. So you end up buying less because look at that lifetime hours spec! Also lasts the entire 4hrs during the long loadshedding blocks, albeit slightly dimmer after 2 hours.

They're guaranteed as well, so if it fails you just send it back and they give you a new one. I haven't tested this but read on some reviews that people had no issues with returns.

Not sponsored at all, and I have no affiliation to them. Just thought I'd share because us Saffers are going through the most right now and we could all do with some help to get through it 😄

Happy birthday @fadeelahk 🥳 Wishing you an awe Happy birthday @fadeelahk 🥳

Wishing you an awesome day and a fantastic year! I make duah that you always be protected, that you be granted the best that life has to offer, and that our adventures never stop, even if they have to change form over the years 😊

SWIM, BIKE, RUN... but supersize it! It took me SWIM, BIKE, RUN... but supersize it!

It took me almost 24hrs after I finished Ironman on Sunday to realise the full magnitude of what I had actually done. Don't get me wrong...doing it and finishing it was always going to be a big deal for me, especially after being at my lowest point in 2 decades both physically and mentally only 7-8 months ago. At the time, even just running a half marathon seemed like something I might never be able to do again. Training for Ironman was part of my healing, and finding myself again.

What I didn't realise, was what a bulletproof zone I was in for the whole of Sunday.

Read all about it in the linktr.ee in bio. I go through what went down in terms of race conditions, how I engineered a finish time down to the minute, why I spent 25min in T2, why I took so long to do those last 3km of the marathon, and much, much more.

THE BLING 🤩 I most definitely had the most fun THE BLING 🤩

I most definitely had the most fun out of anyone out on that course today.

Absolutely loved the Ironman. The weather threw us some curveballs, but I made the most of it and decided that second to making the cutoffs, having fun would be the most important thing to do today.

Shortened swim due to lightning present, four seasons on the bike leg - loved it despite the weather and grateful that there was no gale force winds, and then the most enjoyable marathon I have ever run - despite my sore feet from being wet the whole day 😄, and hectic winds and lots of rain on the marathon too.

More on the day once I get some rest and can gather my thoughts, but thank you thank you for all the amazing support - both online and in person!

Well here we are, tomorrow is IRONMAN RACE DAY 🥳

We will swim 3.8km, bike 180km, and run 42.2km...all with the goal of hearing the words "YOU ARE AN IRONMAN" on the finish line red carpet when I finish that night.

As always for a race of this magnitude, it's been one hell of a journey to get there. It's the second time I'm toeing the start line of this very special race, but the journey has been very different. Not better or worse, but different (I might go into that another time). But thank you to each and everyone that has been a part of it in ANY capacity.

I've seen to everything that is under my control to make the day a success. Some things are never under our control, and for those we have faith that it will work out and that we have the strength to endure whatever it is.

How to track me:
- Download the "Ironman Track" app.
- Choose "2023 ISUZU IRONMAN African Championship South Africa" (this step is NB)
- Search for my name - Rogeema
The app will alert you every time I pass a timing mat on the course and give estimated positions between timings.

Top tip: It's a looonnngg day, so if you plan to track me until the end, please take a nap at some point during the day, preferably during my cycle leg 😄
